Interview with Maria Macaya: Christmas and Unconditional Love

Find out everything about Christmas and Unconditional Love with Maria Macaya.

Unconditional Love and Christmas

Last Wednesday, December 15, we had the opportunity to interview an eminence in the world of yoga and solidarity in Spain: Maria Macaya.

She is the embodiment of unconditional love, wisdom, experience, and the happiness that comes from serving others. He dedicates all his energy to taking care of his family, teaching Jivamukti Yoga classes, workshops and retreats and raising funds for his Radika foundation: an organization that seeks to help people with addictions, homelessness and/or mental illness...

Good afternoon Maria, it is an honor to have you here. Could you tell us a bit about yourself? What is Yoga for you?

MM: That's a very broad question. Yoga entered my life and changed it a little over 20 years ago. It was my husband who encouraged me to try a Yoga class and I, as I was in love, tried it. From then on, Yoga offered me something that I was missing and I decided to share it with others.

Christmas and Unconditional Love

What is unconditional love for you?

MM: Unconditional love for me is compassion, wanting to help others, equanimity, not needing anything in return when giving... For me, the first requirement for unconditional love is to love yourself unconditionally . Because if you don't, others awaken in you the things you don't like about yourself. It is being open to see ourselves in all our facets. See in all unpleasant moments and disagreements the opportunity to learn and evolve.

How can we apply unconditional love at Christmas?

MM: (...) Wherever you are, you must feel that you are with you. Christmas is not always lived in community, many people spend it alone. That is why it is important to teach ourselves to know how to be with us and understand that there are many opportunities around us to celebrate these festivities with other people. Neighbors, people you have met through the digital world, co-workers...

That is also unconditional love...

If you want to know more about what happens at Christmas, the types of families that exist, and how to apply unconditional love during this time of year, we invite you to watch the full interview here .

It is a true treasure full of wisdom. A talk where you will get many learnings and tools to travel a Christmas in peace and quiet.
